Instructions for setting up a dial-up connection, mail account and newsgroup server setup on a Macintosh running OS8 for Tech Info Internet service

Start the configuration of the Internet for Mac OS 8.0,

• Double click on the icon marked ‘Browse the Internet’.
• To continue through the configuration, click on the button marked ‘Assist Me’
• You will be shown an introduction screen next, to continue click on the button marked ‘Update’.
  
  
• Now select ‘Add Internet configuration’, then to continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
  
• In the field labelled ‘What would you like to name this configuration’ type "Tech Info".
  
• Next to ‘How will you be connecting to the Internet’ select ‘Modem’, then to continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
  
  
• Select your modem from the list in this next window, if your modem is not listed, select: ‘Hayes Optima/Accura 28.8K’ as this modem is a generic type of modem.
• Select ‘Modem Port’ from the list option box marked ‘What port is the modem connected to?’ and select ‘Tone’ from the radio boxes below.
  
  
• To continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.                     
• Make sure the modem (phone) number is set to 9433-4444
• Also enter your username and password into fields respectively.
  
• To continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
• In the next screen select ‘No’ as we automatically assign an IP Address to your machine each time your machine logs in.
  
• To continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
• The next screen will prompt you for a list of DNS Servers enter the following numbers:
• Primary DNS: 203.63.149.1
• Secondary DNS: 203.63.149.2
• In the domain name field, type in:-   techinfo.com.au
  
• To continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
  
• On this screen you will be asked for your email address, type in  ‘your username’@techinfo.com.au (or ‘your username’@gravity.net.au’ or ‘your username’@asccomp.net’)
• Next, type in your password in the field marked password.
  
• To continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
• In the field that asks for your POP account, type in:- ‘your login username’@mail.techinfo.com.au and in the field it asks for the SMTP host, enter mail.techinfo.com.au
  
• To continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
• In the field that asks for your NEWS server name, type in:- news.techinfo.com.au
  
• To continue click on the arrow pointing right located at the bottom right hand of the screen.
• To complete the configuration of Macintosh OS 8.0 for the Internet click on the button labelled ‘Go Ahead’.
